At 16 weeks old, Jane has learned and changed so much!
Today she got sooo close to rolling over, and she is getting much more comfortable on her tummy lifting up her head. (Notice her new CLOTH diaper! That may be a separate post coming soon, as we try and figure out that whole system...)
Now that her neck is getting stronger, she can start to sit up a little, too! (Thanks for the Bumbo loan, Curt and Sarah!)
Right now, she is lying in her crib making her new favorite noise. She purses her lips and blows either air or spit bubbles. It's not terribly ladylike, but she sure is proud of it!
She has started grabbing and holding onto things much more now. We are wondering if she may be a lefty, because she grabs and engages things much more readily with her left hand, although the right is catching up. At first, she could only hold things that we put in her hands, but now she is reaching out to grab them! They usually go straight to her mouth, but sometimes she pauses to inspect them first. And sometimes she just skips the hands and lunges toward things with her mouth.
My favorite new thing is that she has started using her "lovies." I know she's not really hugging them affectionately, but it sure looks cute the way she snuggles with them!
She also has started to hold onto us when we carry her. She tries to get hold of part of our clothes or even my hair. Again, I know she's not really hugging us, but it still feels like it.
She also found her toes last week! One day on the changing table, I noticed her grab her foot out of the corner of my eye. I wasn't positive that she really had gotten it, but the next day she did it again, and now it is one of her favorite activities!
Another funny thing that she has actually been doing for a while now is that over the course of the night, she somehow manages to scoot across her crib even though she's swaddled. She always moves down and to the left, so we lay her down in the upper right corner, and she still ends up squished in the opposite one by the morning! Oh well... as long as she's happy!
I suppose we may need to get bumpers soon, but I'm nervous about the whole suffocation thing. I've read mixed reviews on the "breathable" mesh bumpers. So which is worse... bonking into the railing or getting squished by a giant cushion? Thoughts?

That is so funny how she ends up in the corner and great to see her growing before our eyes. I also love that you are doing cloth diapers! I think it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteShe is just the most adorable little person! These pictures are SOOOO cute and i can't believe how much she has already grown!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are doing all the testing on cloth diapers so I don't have to :-) you'll have to let me know how it goes! I'm gonna start with disposables but was thinking i might switch in time...
:-) I heart jane. She is so sweet. I really hope her and Lilian aren't cliquey.
Jane and Lilian will heart baby Davies, especially if she is born on Edward's birthday.
